Wellesley Code Academy reaching out to teens who don’t want to just play with video games and smartphone apps

Wellesley Code Academy is a new — and free program — that will be offered to 12 Wellesley students ages 13-18 interested in learning to design and build mobile gaming apps.

Students, who will learn how to use the cross-platform Corona software development kit from Ansca Mobile, are being asked to commit to attending 4 sessions from 5-630pm at Wellesley Free Library in July/early August.

Jen Looper, a software developer who ran for a seat on the Wellesley School Committee this year, is spearheading the venture.
