Wellesley Catalpa “weed” trees slated to get the ax

catalpa trees wellesley maA line-up of about 8 Catalpa trees along Rte. 16 in Wellesley in front of the Great Hunnewall are slated for eradication by the town tree warden, according to notices posted. But first, a public hearing, set for July 24 at Town Hall at 7:30pm.

    Those are beautiful trees. Why do you call them “weed trees”; because they grow fast? I hope there is good reason for taking them down, like disease. I know citizens of Wellesley love their trees, even the sick ones, so it should be an interesting hearing!
