1 sign of summer winding down in Wellesley

Morses Pond closed up for the season on Sunday.

If you’re wondering why the pond closes down before summer ends, here’s why: Lack of staff.

Jan Kaseta, director of the Wellesley Recreation Department, says “it’s a lack of staff that forces pretty much all of the local pools and ponds/lakes to close. College kids are headed back to school, many of the high school kids are involved in sports, so they have preseason stuff (and we wouldn’t be able to leave HS kids in charge anyway—you have to have someone over 21 there).”
