Bernadine Small, most recently the principal at Brown Elementary School in Natick, has been named interim principal at Hardy Elementary School in Wellesley for 2012-2013. Small retired from the Natick job after spending 9 years at the post.
It’s only fair that Wellesley would snag an ex-Natick administrator given that she is replacing MaryBeth Kinkead, who announced in July she was leaving her job as Hardy’s principal to take over Natick’s preschool program.
According to Wellesley schools superintendent David Lussier, Small earlier in her career served as a special educator in Portland, Maine, and as an English Language Arts Curriculum Specialist in Concord, Mass.
Wellesley’s schools, which open for the new year the day after Labor Day, have undergone major turnover over the past year, providing Lussier with plenty to do right from the start.
Hunnewell Elementary School in June announced an interim principal, while Upham, Fiske and Wellesley Middle School have all recently announced new principals. Last year, Bates Elementary School tapped a new principal as did Schofield Elementary School.
