Cat found in Wellesley, though not same one we posted about being lost earlier

UPDATE: Maverick the cat was spotted online by his family and the owner came to pick the cat up from Animal Control, which advised on how to register the animal’s microchip. Happy ending.

It’s been quite a week for lost and found animals in Wellesley, some real, some not (doggie and froggie). And last month a dog visiting from Pennsylvania was lost, only to be found a couple of weeks later near Rte. 9.

The latest: Wellesley animal control officer Sue Webb reports a found cat with a microchip implanted from Texas A&M University by Chicago Animal Control, but because the cat hasn’t been registered, she has no name for the owner. This friendly short-hair, black/white chested cat with no collar was found on Hastings Road by the town forest.  “He is neutered and overweight so couldn’t run from a coyote or fisher if his life pended on it,” Webb writes. Please contact animal control if you know the cat or his owner: 781-235-8460
