Peisch re-elected as state rep; Bielat, Kennedy to face off for Congressional seat

With better than  90% of the vote according to unofficial results, Alice Hanlon Peisch easily earned a sixth term as state rep for Wellesley and nearby towns by defeating Jerome Carr in a runoff between Democrats (1,839 to 131 votes). There is no Republican challenger for the seat. More from Metrowest Daily News.

Separately, Republican Sean Bielat will face off in November vs. Democrat Joseph Kennedy III for retiring Barney Frank’s old seat in U.S. Congress in the reconfigured Fourth Congressional District.  Both Bielat (who lost to Frank the last time around) and Kennedy easily beat out others during Thursday’s primary voting. More from the Globe.

Wellesley’s voter turnout was low (20% of registered voters), as expected, for this rare Thursday election. Full results here.
