Patriots to honor Wellesley woman for volunteer service during Sunday’s game

celebratevolunteerism_on_white550Joan DeFinis of Wellesley is being honored for her volunteer efforts by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation as a Patriots Difference Maker of the Week during Sunday’s game vs. the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon. The Pats choose one winner for each regular season game (16).

DeFinis began volunteering for the Money Management Program at Springwell, which provides a range of services to seniors in Wellesley and other western suburbs, in October 2004.  Joan has helped to ensure that her Springwell clients are able to pay their rent and medical insurance premiums on time, alleviating the risk of eviction or the loss of health insurance coverage.  She also works part-time at the Needham Council on Aging developing outreach and learning programs for seniors and is an active member of the American Association of Daily Money Managers.
