Wind takes down tree/wires on Rte. 16 at Natick/Wellesley line

From Wellesley Police shortly after 6am on Thursday, Jan. 31:

Route 16 EASTBOUND at Pond Road (near the Natick line) is CLOSED due to a tree and wires down.  Traffic eastbound from Natick into Wellesley is being diverted up Pond Road to Rt. 135.  Westbound traffic on Rt. 16 is still open, however that may change due to the damage.

High winds have brought down a tree and electrical wires in the 800 block of Washington St (Rt. 16).  WMLP and the Wellesley Tree Dept are on scene removing the tree.  Power in the area may be lost in this area due to the work.

Please avoid Rt. 16 near the Natick line for the next few hours and expect delays.
