Some Wellesley colleges, businesses close Friday in light of Boston bomber manhunt

Wellesley College on Friday morning said classes and events on campus are cancelled, due to the “continually changing nature of events” in connection with the Boston Marathon bomber manhunt. However, the school did say that there is no threat to campus safety at this point.

Babson College, as of 8:45am, posted a notice that its campus is not closed, though urged anyone in areas under lockdown not to come to the school today.

MassBay Community College is closed Friday due to the public safety emergency.

Separately, MassBay is holding a vigil on Monday, April 22 in honor of bombing victim Krystle Campbell, who attended the school through 2005, and others affected by the attack.

As of 8:10am Wellesley was not among surrounding Boston communities being told to lock down by state authorities.

Though some individual businesses in town might choose to close for the day. Pine Straw, for example, has closed until things return to normal. Pure Barre in Linden Square and Newton has also closed for the day and Boloco in Wellesley Square is closed at least for this morning.
