Rock band Awesome Express, whose members hail from Wellesley, Needham and West Roxbury, perform a free outdoor concert on Thursday, June 27 at 7-8:30pm at Wellesley Town Hall to celebrate school being out for the summer.

The band kicked off the summer concert series in Wellesley last June.

Awesome Express won the “Best Live Act of the Year” award at the Limelight Magazine Music Awards this past March. The band scored and performed the music of the indie comedy movie “Vampires VS Zombies,” which premiered April 1st.

The members of Awesome Express include Charles Coleman (Wellesley), Charles Winston (Needham), Kyle Coulter (Needham), and Shaqed Druyan (West Roxbury). Awesome Express is passionate about bringing back the classic sound of rock and roll from the ’60’s and ‘70’s, and are influenced by Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Queen, but also perform original music.
