Wellesley Sleepwalker, dog sculptures vandalized

Matelli’s infamous Sleepwalker sculpture on Wellesley College’s campus has been vandalized, doused in yellow paint. As seen in this photograph by Wellesley College Assistant Professor Nikki Greene, the statue has now been cordoned off with caution tape as well. Campus police are on the job, according to a Boston Globe article, which cites a Wellesley College spokeswoman saying several other spots on campus were also tagged with yellow paint. That includes Matelli’s seeing-eye dog.

The Sleepwalker is supposed to stick around until July, allowing Wellesley College grads and families next week to get their obligatory selfies with the statue. Hopefully, the piece will be cleaned up by then.

OMG – Poor Sleepwalker and lost dog…;-( I’d bring them both a yellow flower.

And reported yet again by AP… read about this in the UK’s Daily Mail.
