Wellesley Public Schools Superintendent David Lussier issued a note in the wake of Tuesday’s shooting death of Dr. Michael Davidson at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, offering support to those in the community affected by the tragedy.
“We were deeply saddened to learn that a member of the Wellesley community, Dr. Michael Davidson, was killed yesterday in the shooting at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. We are particularly touched by this tragedy, as the Davidsons are also members of our Bates Elementary School community.
While shaken by these events, we also want to work together in support of this family, as well as all of our students and staff. To this end, we are working with Dr. Rob Evans from the Human Relations Service to provide support to the Bates staff and we will have additional counselors on site today at Bates to provide support to students and parents. Finally, I am also attaching a resource from Dr. Evans that provides guidance on how to talk to students in the wake of a tragedy.
Today, our thoughts and prayers remain with the Davidson family, and I thank you in advance for supporting them and all of our students in the days ahead.”
A funeral service for Davidson will be held Friday, Jan. 23 at 10am at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley.
