Be on the lookout for dragon eggs

The Wellesley Booksmith is joining forces with other local merchants to sponsor a dragon egg hunt that will reward those finding eggs with prizes, including a free copy of Christopher Paolini’s new book, Brisingr. The hunt starts at 3pm on Sept. 12 and culminates with the midnight launch of the book at the Booksmith on Sept. 19. From the Booksmith:

The Dragon Egg Hunt officially starts at 3 pm Friday, September 12th and will run from dawn to dusk each day until the final egg is found. Here’s how it works: Nine Dragon Eggs filled with prizes will be hidden in kid-friendly green spaces throughout Wellesley. In order to learn their exact locations, egg hunters will solve clues online that will direct them to local businesses, visit those businesses to learn the eggs’ locations, then visit those locations to find the eggs!

Each egg will contain a gift certificate to the business that sponsored it, a voucher granting its owner a FREE copy of Brisingr (valued at $27.50), and a magical pass to skip to the front of the book receiving line at Wellesley Booksmith’s Midnight Launch Party on Friday, September 19th.

Eight generous and fun-loving Wellesley merchants are cosponsoring the Dragon Egg Hunt, organized by Wellesley Booksmith: Alta Strada, The Clift Collection, Little Bits Toys, Lux Bond & Green, Lyn Evans, SCORE!, The Wellesley Bank, & White Mountain Creamery.

Wellesley Booksmith events: Philip Roth coming, sort of; and another midnight book release

The biggest name on the list of upcoming author events at Wellesley Booksmith is Philip Roth, who is launching a new book called Indignation (his 29th book). But alas, Roth isn’t slated to show up in person. He’ll be coming to the store on Sept. 16 via a Web broadcast at 8pm.

Then again, maybe Roth will show up a few days later dressed as a dragon or knight. The Booksmith has a midnight release event in the works for Sept. 19 to unveil Christopher Paolini’s Brisingr, and such events often inspire book fans to come outfitted in character. Brisingr is the latest in the young author’s popular series of dragon-themed books that includes Eragon and Eldest.
