Hike 10 miles across Wellesley’s trails this Saturday

The Wellesley Trails Committee will be your guide. Meet at 8am at Wellesley High parking lot and bring some water/snacks and sturdy shoes. If you can’t do the whole grand tour of 10 miles (most of it on Wellesley’s trails), there are places you can bail if you situate your cars or bikes right. The walk figures to wrap up between noon and 12:30pm.

Wellesley weekend action: Morses Pond trail walk; Upham sports carnival

Meet up with members of the Wellesley Trails Committee for a walk around Morses Pond from on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9-10am, meet at end of Turner Rd. where the gate is.

Then head over that same day to the Upham Sports Carnival at the Upham Elementary School for a fun fair from 10am-2pm.

Wellesley weekend action: Fiske fair, Kids Trails Day and Jimmy Fund walk

The annual Fiske Wild West Round Up takes place at Fiske Elementary School, 45 Hastings Street, Wellesley, 10 am - 2 pm, rain or shine. Features games of chance and skill for all ages, arts & crafts, face painting, fun prizes, and fabulous food. Plus, pony rides, a petting zoo, moon bounces, and a giant slide. It’s a big fundraiser for the school.

Join the Wellesley Trails Committee for Sunday’s Kids Trails Day from 1:30-3pm. Learn about nature and even how to build a Native American shelter. The activities are free and refeshments will be served. Meet at MassBay Community College parking lot on Oakland St.

Also on Sunday, be on the alert and show your support as Jimmy Fund Walk participants head through town along the Boston Marathon course on Rte. 16/Rte 135.

Fall trails walk schedule, including Kids’ Trail Day

The Wellesley Trails Committee has issued its Fall schedule of guided trails walks. Walks are free and require no registration.

* October 4, Saturday, 9 to 10 AM:  Morses Pond

* October 18, Saturday, 10 to 11AM:  Guernsey Path

* November 4, Saturday, 8 AM to 12 Noon:  Wellesley Grand Tour (10 miles)

* The Kids’ Trail Day, which encourages children to get outside and enjoy nature, will take place September 21, Sunday, 1:30 to 3PM:  MassBay Community College. More details to come.

No more excuses for getting lost

The Wellesley Trails Committee has spruced up the trail maps in its map holders across town. The new maps are much more detailed than the ones that were replaced.
