If you can’t stomach the thought of rooting for say, Kobe Bryant, as a U.S. Olympian over the next couple of weeks during the summer games in Beijing, be on the lookout for swimmer Erik Vendt. After all, at least some of the three-time Olympian’s bios list him as being born in Wellesley. Though it sounds like he did most of his growing up in North Easton, Mass., and he later made a splash at USC. Vendt will partake in the 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay (heats Tuesday, Final Wednesday). He already has two Olympic silver medals to his name, and has come back one more time in search of the gold.
