WCAC-TV will partner with The Needham Channel to co-produce the 2008 Thanksgiving Day High School Varsity Football game at Memorial Field in Needham for cablecast on the local cable channels in both Needham and Wellesley. The replay of the game will be 8:00 pm Thanksgiving Day evening on the local cable channel in Wellesley (channel 9 Comcast/channel 39 Verizon.) Replays of the 2006 and 2007 games will show during Thanksgiving day as well.
While it’s been a tough season for the Wellesley team, there is good news for one alum, Thomas Claiborne, who is making his mark at Boston College. At least one member of the BC coaching staff thinks the team’s starting right guard has a shot at the pros. He wouldn’t be the first Wellesleyite to play in the NFL. Not sure who was, but among them: Greg Comella, who played fullback for the New York Giants in Super Bowl IIIV and part of the Comella clan that operates a restaurant bearing their name in Wellesley.
