Badges vs. IDs

Wellesley Deputy Police Chief William Brooks weighs in on the issue of having police use a universal ID to help ensure the public that cops are who they say they are:

“Now it’s easier to copy an ID than a badge,” said Wellesley Deputy Chief William Brooks, whose department has been pushing hard for a universal ID. Brooks was concerned about the number of home invasions and sexual assaults perpetrated by those claiming to be police, but with phony ID cards.
