Greg Mankiw, a professor of economics at Harvard University who lives in Wellesley, could be heard this week on NPR’s Fresh Air program giving a critical view of President-elect Obama’s proposed economic stimulus package. In fact, he points to the process of approving the new Wellesley High School building project (a project he supports) as an example of how difficult and drawn-out it can be to make decisions on a local level (he mentions Wellesley about 3 minutes into the interview, available here). The former Bush and Romney adviser notes that it’s even harder to make good and fast decisions at a federal level.
