The Townsman recaps last week’s Natural Resources Commission decision on how to satisfy those who want to let their dogs off leash at Perrin Park and those concerned about the dogs messing up the park and bothering kids. New rules under a pilot program are in effect through March 31:
The pilot program is intended to let the NRC gather data on when and how the park is utilized by dogs, their owners and other users. Up to eight dogs can be off-leash at a time, and dogs will be allowed in the park from 7-9:30 a.m. and 3-5:30 p.m. or dusk. They are not allowed in the tot lot, off or on-leash. Fines for noncompliance can be up to $200. Once the spring starts, the NRC will re-evaluate the rules for the park.
