Wellesley High grad Nate Freiman, who topped off his Duke University baseball career with a .352 average and 20 homers this season, was selected by the San Diego Padres this week in the 8th round with the 234th pick. The 6-foot, 8-inch tall first baseman, who holds Duke’s career home run record, was selected in the draft last year by the Texas Rangers in the 28th round but decided to stick with the Blue Devils for his senior year and re-enter the draft this year.
