The Financial Times profiles fashion powerhouse Gretchen Monahan, who kinda got her start in Wellesley, when she opened a salon called Trillium in 1995 (it later became Grettacole, a combo of Monahan’s nickname and that of her business partner).
She called it Trillium, the name of a wild flower, because she was “too embarrassed to use my name in the business in case it failed”.
