Update 9/30: Wellesley Colleges comes up with a workaround to enable senior citizens to keep auditing courses
The Globe reports that some senior citizens in Wellesley are upset that Wellesley College has stopped letting them audit courses for free. The school has had serious cutbacks over the past year in light of the tough economy and says it doesn’t have the resources to manage the program, though hopes the suspension of the program will be temporary. Elders say offering the courses for free is the least the school can do as a member of the community. The school, meanwhile, notes that it gives away plenty to the community, including free access to its art museum, concerts and lectures.
Those shut out at Wellesley College could consider heading down the road to Babson. Here’s the info on Babson’s course auditing program for Wellesley and Needham residents.
