State Rep. Alice Peisch gave us a heads up last night that finalization of a deal between the state and CSX under which the commonwealth takes control of property rights of the Boston-to-Worcester rail line from CSX could be a boon to Wellesley commuters. Peisch writes that “There should eventually be both better service and more trains – better service because dispatch and track will be controlled by MBTA instead of CSX, and more trains because the freight will now stop west of Framingham as opposed to going into Beacon Yards in Brighton – freeing up the tracks from Framingham to Brighton.”
Liability issues had been holding up the deal, which was initially announced last year. More coverage.
