From the school newsletter:
CELL PHONE POLICY CHANGES
for 2009-10 Academic year
The cell phone policy from last year has been updated as follows: Cellular phones must be turned off and be out of sight during the school day (7:30 AM to 2:30 PM). Cell phones, if used, including texting, will be confiscated until the end of the day and a recorded warning will be given for the first offense. The consequence for the second offense will result in retention of the cell phone by the student’s Assistant Principal for two weeks and two detentions assigned. The third offense will result in retention of the cell phone by the Assistant Principal for three weeks and the student will be assigned to Saturday School. The fourth offense will result in suspension for the student and the retention of the cell phone for four weeks. There is a phone in the Main Office that students are welcome to use to call their parents or guardian when needed.
The faculty has requested that parents be aware of the WHS Cell Phone Policy. Phone calls and texting during class time have become increasingly distracting and disruptive to classroom instruction. Parents, please do not expect that your son/daughter will be able to respond to a call or text until 2:30 PM. As always, the students are welcome to use a phone in the main office to contact a parent or guardian.
