The Wellesley School Committee will take up the issue of Wellesley Middle School capacity next Tuesday at its meeting at Town Hall at 7:30pm.
Committee 21 reports that enrollment projections were for 1,128 students to be at WMS this, up 69 students from last year. Space is already constrained by this, with a number of juggling acts being performed (the orchestra class is being held on the auditorium stage so that another class can be held in the old orchestra room).
Meanwhile, the numbers are expected to keep rising over the next four years (though updated projections are scheduled to be delivered at a School Committee Meeting on Oct. 20). Town and school officials have started discussions about what to do, such as adding modular space.
