UPDATE: The Health Department on Nov. 10 did issue a letter to parents/guardians of elementary school children inviting those kids at high risk of complications from H1N1 to get vaccinated starting next week Nov. 16.
The Health Department has received a limited supply of injectable H1N1 vaccine that is targeted to individuals at high risk of complications from flu illness. The Health Department plans to vaccinate high risk elementary (K-5) school children starting the week of November 16, at each elementary school (schedule to be determined). Injectable H1N1 vaccine will be used in this high risk group. Parents will be notified whether and when their child will be vaccinated during this “round” of vaccination. As more vaccine is received by the Health Department, broader “rounds” of vaccination will occur throughout the schools.
The town has issued an update on H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine supplies and plans. Wellesley residents at high risk of complications from H1N1 should call the Health Department to get on a high priority list. More info here.
