Hunnewell School teacher passes away

Sad news out of Hunnewell Elementary School. Susan Sullivan, a special educator in the Wellesley Public School system for 15 years whose teaching career started in Harlem, died earlier this week. She had been working mainly with fourth and fifth graders, though had been on medical leave since mid-September.

Wellesley School Superintendent Bella Wong wrote:

As a special educator, Susan worked with hundreds of students and their teachers on an individual basis. Working with Susan was a personally intimate and enriching experience, so much so that when teachers were not collaborating with Susan because they were not teaching students on her caseload, they found themselves missing her and longing for the next opportunity to work with her. Susan was a special person who filled in the cracks as she found them and made everything, including people, better and more whole. Generous of heart and soul, Susan achieved this with subtle grace.
