UPDATE: The School Department has also been contacting parents/guardians of the other Wellesley Schools to arrange for H1N1 vaccinations in coming weeks, plus the town has announced a walk-in clinic for Wellesley residents ages 19-22 for Dec. 23.
Wellesley’s Department of Health has notified parents and guardians that free H1N1 vaccines will be administered next Wednesday to Wellesley Middle School students on a voluntary basis. The town initially targeted students in grades K-12 who might be more at risk to complications from the flu and is now cycling back through the school system for other children. Shots and nasal sprays are available, though vaccine supplies from the state are unpredictable. A note from the health department says that other Wellesley schools will be addressed next, with a schedule forthcoming based in part on whether any particular schools have flu outbreaks. Vaccines will also be doled out to pregnant women, those caring for infants and healthcare workers as appropriate.
