Wellesley’s Milestone restaurant set to open

December 26, 2009 by Bob Brown 3 Comments

milestone restaurantWellesley’s newest restaurant, the Milestone at 13 Central St., is opening for lunch on Dec. 27, according to its website (though we could swear we saw a sign in their window saying Dec. 28….so one or the other). They’re located in Vidalia’s old spot.

The restaurant, which will feature Southern European cooking, will be open for dinner and lunch 7 days a week after the new year.

They’re located in *Popover’s* old spot, a place far more memorable than Vidalia’s.

Awesome food and great service. One of Wellesley’s best restaurants.

I feel compelled to write this review after the horrible experience we had at the Milestone Restaurant on Mother’s Day. My daughter had planned what she had hoped would be a very special Mother’s Day brunch, having made reservations 2 weeks in advance, only to find out they had never entered our name in the computer. Finally, after going back & forth between a couple of different people there, we were given a table in the bar area. Not a soul came to acknowledge us for a full 10 min., even though the restaurant was not full. It was not even a brunch ,just breakfast ordered from the menu. We asked 3 different workers for coffee & 20 minutes later(no exaggeration) it arrived in these very tiny tea cups-we were told they ran out of coffee mugs. We had asked for cream & sugar which they didn’t bring. Another 10 minutes went by & we had to get up and find someone to bring it to us.By that time our coffee was cold. Another LONG wait before we ever saw our server again to take our order. I can’t even tell you how long we had to waot for our food, and then only 2 of the 3 orders came out. They were stone cold. My order came after the others were finished their meals. I had to ask our server 3 times for mine. I had ordered a Belgian waffle which was supposed to be served with whipped cream & fruit, but I was told they ran out of whipped cream & I have no idea what happened to the fruit. The side order of bacon never found it’s way to our table. My daughter went to talk to the owner since she was so upset , and he gave her such a sneering look and would not even acknowledge her. We certainly were not the only patrons complaining, since we noticed so many orders being returned to the kitchen. We spoke to people sitting on both sides of us who were equally disgusted. The owner should be ahamed of himself ! I can guarantee you they will not stay in business for long with the poor quality of food, the terrible service, and the total disrespect shown to customers. What they need is Chef Gordon Ramsey from the show Kitchen Nightmares to come in & straighten them out.
