Wellesley College might have oodles of history behind it, but that doesn’t mean the school isn’t trying to stay current. A graphic design outfit called Base Design says that in recent months it has been working with the school to rework its “visual identity,” including a new logo seen here that “conveys upward growth” and on a slick new calendar of events mailed to Wellesley residents last week. The effort also includes standardizing on colors and typography and taking photos that will be used in Wellesley promotions.

As an alum, I’m a bit perturbed that they spent money on a New York design firm to come up with this — it’s a W and not even that original.
