It’s not often that I actually buy anything anywhere, but have ventured out a couple of times in Wellesley on flood-related errands of late, attempting to Shop Wellesley First, as the local Chamber of Commerce likes to say. Turns out I’m not the only one whose head is spinning these days :
* During the flooding/storms of two weeks ago I needed to make a post-midnight gas run to power up a sump pump. Stopped by a station not to be named and my card wasn’t working at the pump. Went inside the store and there was the clerk asleep with head on the counter. Well, at least it wasn’t my card not working…
* Paid my first and second visits to the new Ace Hardware on Linden St. within the span of about 15 minutes, having forgotten to get an item the first time around. The store is tidy and the employees were helpful and friendly. Both times upon checkout the cashier bid me a “Good Afternoon!” as I departed, once at around 6:30pm, then at 6:45pm.
