From Wellesley Police:
An electrical fire in the traffic control box knocked out the traffic lights on Route 9 in front of Wellesley Fire Headquarters on March 30, 2010. Mass Highway estimates that the lights will be out of service for at least a 24 hour period, and possibly longer. Updates to the situation will be posted on www.WellesleyPolice.com and a message will be sent out via the Wellesley Police Community Notification Service provided by NIXLE when the lights are functioning again.
Barricades and signs have been erected at the turnaround.
The following traffic restrictions are in effect until further notice:
Traffic traveling on Route 9 eastbound will not be allowed to make a U-turn to go westbound, or turn into the fire station from the eastbound side. Traffic from Route 16/Washington Street to Route 9 (Wellesley Hills side) will only be allowed to make a right turn and go eastbound on Route 9. Traffic will NOT be able to access the westbound side of Route 9 from the Wellesley Hills Square side of Washington Street. Traffic exiting from MLP/DPW/Wellesley Fire Headquarters will only be allowed to turn right and go westbound on Route 9. Access to Route 9 westbound can be made via the on ramp at the community center OR via the Cliff Road ramp.
