Wellesley authors, including those with bestsellers and Nobel Prizes to their names, congregated at Wellesley Free Library Thursday night to celebrate writing, reading and the library. Beth Hinchliffe, one of the Wellesley Free Library Centennial Fund Silver Anniversary celebration organizers called April 15 a fitting day for the event given all the fiction writing that tends to happen on Tax Day. The Fund will have raised about $1 million during its 25 years by the end of 2010.
Representing the authors at the podium was Jackie Dembar Greene, a writer of popular young adult books, including the American Girls books about a heroine named Rebecca. A former Wellesley Townsman reporter, Greene recalled hours spent at the Wellesley Free Library working on her books. “Finding your work in the local library is the best reward” an author can get, she said.
