Channel 5 WCVB-TV investigates unfixed gas leaks across the state, including on Rte. 9 in Wellesley: “OK, that’s in the explosive range. It’s an immediate hazard. This manhole cover could blow off at any time,” a detector tells the news program. More in this video.
At the intersection of rt16 and 95 in Newton I can always smell gas if I sit at the red light. That cant be good.
I drive through Wellesley twice a day on my work commute, and I frequently smell gas at the intersection of Rte 9 and Rte 16, especially when taking the on ramp to Rte 9 East from Rte 16 East, before the bridge across 9. Mapquest shows this as “Worcester Street”.
Has this been an ongoing problem for years? Has anyone called the gas company?
