Newsweek’s latest rankings of America’s Best High Schools is out and the good news is that Wellesley High School made the cut, at number 987. Just over 1,600 schools — about 6% of public schools in the U.S. — are listed. (Rankings are “based on how hard school staffs work to challenge students with advanced placement college-level courses and tests.”)
The bad news? Last year Wellesley was ranked #648 and that was down from #355 in 2006. Maybe the new high school building will help reverse the trend.
