Wellesley Optical owner Gerald Kindness writes to us emphasizing that Wellesley Optical, which disappeared from 72 Central St. in downtown Wellesley last year, does live on at 216 Newbury St. in Boston.
The history: The store in Wellesley opened in 1952 and Kindness acquired it in 1980. He operated it for 10 years, then turned it over to another operator in 1990 and later sold it to him. However, that operator last year mysteriously closed the shop — for financial reasons, Kindness says. And now a new optical store has moved in, unrelated to Wellesley Optical.
“If you could just let people in Wellesley know where I am that would be great,” Kindness writes.
