Dog lost — and found! — in Wellesley

July 18, 2010 by Bob Brown 3 Comments

Koty the SheltieWe got email last night from Wellesley’s Betsy K asking if we could post a notice about a lost dog called Koty who had been visiting from Atlanta but ran away shortly before Friday night’s storm. Betsy and her family pulled out all the stops, putting up posters and looking for the Sheltie.

Unfortunately, we didn’t see the note this morning, but this story has a happy ending. It turns out “the greatest police officers in the world” made it their mission to find the dog and did this morning, Betsy reports.

Yes, after 36 hours of searching and worrying, the call from the Wellesley police dispatcher was pure joy. Thanks to Sergeant Whittemore and Officer Barros, and also to Sue Webb, Animal Control officer and all of the neighbors who helped look for Koty. It was a really happy ending.

Thank goodness! We were part of the initial chase before and during the downpour on Friday evening and were wondering what happened with Koty. What a wonderful, happy ending!

I heard about this story over the weekend as I saw the posters and ran into people keeping their eyes wide for the dog. What a happy ending, and a nice reminder about one of the things that makes Wellesley such a great community…people helping others.
