Alison Morris, an early Swellesley Report supporter and herself a blogger, is leaving her job as a children’s book buyer for Wellesley Booksmith (she built up the children’s section there over 9 years) and heading to New York City with husband/artist Gareth Hinds for a new job at Scholastic (and she swears, to get back to work on a book). Morris was a familiar face to Booksmith regulars as well as to local teachers and parents.
You can read some of Alison’s departing thoughts down a bit on this blog post. One of her biggest fans, Tucker the blogging dog, also shares his thoughts.
I’m beyond honored that my job change was newsworthy enough to make the Swellesley Report! Thanks for all you’ve done to support Wellesley Booksmith during my 9+ years at the store. Here’s a direct link to the blog post in which I explain the new job I’ll be taking and express my utmost confidence in the abilities of my successors, Margaret Aldrich and Lisa Fabiano: http://blogs.publishersweekly.com/blogs/shelftalker/?p=1333
