Wellesley police not begging for money by phone; chief gets 1% raise

The Wellesley Police Department has issued a notice that “neither the Wellesley Police Superior Officers Association nor the Wellesley Police Patrolman’s Association conduct fund raising by telephone.  Fund raising by our police associations is occasionally undertaken, but always by mail.  Any resident who receives a telephone call from someone purporting to be raising funds for a police organization should know that they are not speaking to an employee of the Wellesley Police Department.”

Though WPD might wanna hit up the boss. Chief Terrence Cunningham — along with the fire chief and town manager — has been approved for a 1% pay raise by the Board of Selectmen.

Meanwhile, the local cops were donating their expertise to a group of Wellesley middle school age kids at the annual Wellesley Police Youth Academy (loads of action shots  at Wellesley PD Photo)
