Bobby’s Grille seeking investors

Bobby's Grille

Bobby’s Grille, the American grille that opened last year in Wellesley’s Lower Falls area at 11 Washington St., is seeking an investor after one of its backers  pulled out. We’d been wondering what might be up after noticing the restaurant’s website being on the fritz.

We received a tip this week that there was a listing on Craigslist by the Boston Restaurant Group (and there’s one on their website if you  scroll down a bit here) describing Bobby’s and sure enough it does (says the original investment in the business was $600K and that the “business has to be sold”). The Boston Restaurant Group listing says Bobby’s is looking for an equity investor/working partner or a direct sale.

Though we spoke briefly on Monday with Bobby Walsh, Jr.,  of Bobby’s and he says his intention is to find an investor and not sell the restaurant. He acknowledges that the summer can be challenging for Wellesley restaurants, with so many people away and the current economy in general.

There’s also concern that the new senior housing project on the old Grossman’s lot might not necessarily boost business for a restaurant like Bobby’s that aspires to offer a bustling atmosphere at night.
