Fox News reports on the recent thefts of copper pipes from Wellesley Hills Congregational Church and Unitarian Church of Wellesley, which are taking a church-like/forgiving approach to the thieves but are also concerned about what how the missing pipes (in the form of downspouts) could result in flooding.
Town residents could also wind up footing the bill for stolen pipes from the Warren Building/Rec Center.
Copper theft has become such a big issue nationwide that there’s even a trade association called the Coalition Against Copper Theft to address it. Rising copper prices has fueled theft.
