Winter moths (operophtera brumata) are back in Wellesley and ready to do some mating. The town does some spraying of town trees but obviously there are more moths than sprayers.

The males are the ones you’ll see clustering around your lights and doorways, the females are wingless and hang out near the base of trees like maples and fruit trees that their caterpillar offspring will gorge on in the spring.
