Update: (Dec. 26, 2010): NPR picks up on the story of Wellesley residents and other Wasik’s Cheese Shop customers rallying around the business in the wake of Steve Wasik’s death.
UPDATE: Wasik’s devotees crowd Wellesley Cheese Shop in honor of late owner (the Globe reports)
Friends, customers and neighboring businesses of Wasik’s Cheese Shop in Wellesley are rallying to support the Wasik family in their time of need following the death of store owner Steve Wasik Monday. Wasik opened the store in 1979 with his wife Carol and ran it as a family business that touched many.
The following letter is making the rounds:
If you are lucky enough to know the wonderful Wasik family, and their much loved shop, I know that you would want to support them during this awful time, so I thought I’d share their wishes.
They need us to buy cheese. They are overstocked with perishables for the holiday season and they’d like to close the store for a short period to mourn and attend services, etc… but Steve would have hated to see all of that great cheese go bad.
So if you need cheese for any of your holiday parties please consider Wasik’s Cheese Shop, 61 Central Street, Wellesley MA 02482. 781-237-0916.
Monday, 10am – 5pm | Tuesday thru Friday, 9am – 6pm | Saturday, 9am – 5:30pm | Sunday, Closed
Please feel free to get the word out to others in our community too. Thank you.
The Wasiks have also posted via Facebook the following: “Thank you for all of the kind words and support. Steve considered all of our customers extended family and we’d all love to see you in the shop this week. Merry Christmas – The Wasiks”
