The Ann Taylor store at 73 Central St. in Wellesley Square is planning to close by the end of the month, The Swellesley Report has confirmed with store employees and based on signs in the store (thanks to several readers who tipped us off earlier in the week).
Wellesley Square has been losing businesses left and right of late, with the tough economy and high rental/lease rates most often cited as reasons.
Ann Taylor corporate recently reported solid financial results and the company has been expanding, particularly via its LOFT outlet and Ann Taylor Factory stores. Maybe it’ll circle back into town with one of those outfits? The Ann Taylor store in Wellesley has been there for about 14 years.
