The Boston Herald reports on a Natick man erroneously issued a parking ticket by Wellesley when his car was parked legally in Newton at the Riverside T station.
According to the story, it turns out Wellesley was capturing info on Wellesley residents’ license plates at the parking lot as part of a transportation planning survey, but Wellesley’s parking clerk says a handheld reader went haywire and issued bogus tickets. It sounds as though Wellesley didn’t give drivers a heads up that they might be getting undeserved tickets.
Some colorful comments on the Herald story, on everything from what readers called Wellesley’s Big Brotherish scheme to what wives are doing opening their husbands’ mail.
