A standing room only crowd attended Tuesday night’s Wellesley School Committee meeting at town hall where Superintendent Bella Wong outlined possible significant cuts to meet budget goals. The Townsman reports that school libraries could be big casualties of the cuts, along with high school humanities and elementary gym/music classes.
More details here in Wong’s presentation, which also outlines possible jacked up athletic fees for high school and middle school students.
Wong stressed that the $1.2 million in cuts outlined under one plan aren’t set in stone, as state and other funding totals are still up in the air. The School Committee is slated to vote on the budget next Monday.
