UPDATE: After going dark for several days without any notice to the public on the outside of the business, Rosie’s was open again on Tuesday, Jan. 4….
Rosie’s Bakery & Lunch Cafe , located at 55 Central St., in Wellesley Square, has been closed since Friday and with chairs stacked upon tables, it looks like it might not re-open (though we hear some customers were told Rosie’s was remodeling for the new year).
No one was answering the phone on Sunday and no indication was given on the shop’s doors, windows or website about its status.
We recently asked Rosie’s founder and cookbook author Judy Rosenberg about whether Rosie’s might be closing in Wellesley but she said she no longer owns that location and didn’t know the owners’ plans.
Boston Restaurant Group, the same outfit that is selling the Bobby’s Grille space, has been peddling this 1,700 sq. ft. property, which formerly was occupied by Au Bon Pain.
Rosie’s, known for its brownies, cookies, cakes, cupcakes and other treats, has other locations in Cambridge, Boston and Chestnut Hill. The first shop opened in Inman Square in the 1970s.
There has been a flurry of business closings in Wellesley to end the year, with Different Drummer and Blockbuster Video departing.
