Trappings, a self-described “fun, bright and preppy boutique” at 31 Central St. in Wellesley Square, has shut down, though is still taking monogramming and special orders. The business opened in Wellesley 7 years ago in its unique down under spot.
Trappings specialized in clothing and jewelry. Trappings’ owners occasionally blogged at the Trapped at Trappings website, most recently about holiday gift bags.
The shop is the latest in a slew of Wellesley businesses closing down due to the tough economy or for other reasons. Many of Trappings’ vendors were struggling financially, leaving the Wellesley business with fewer sources of specialty offerings.
Not to say some new businesses aren’t opening in town. Lux Nails & Spa opens the second week of January, Old School Pizzeria is on the way, where College Square Pizza used to be, and J.P. Licks will arrive by Spring.)
Know of any other new businesses coming to Wellesley soon?

I think the reason that a lot of businesses close in Swellesley is because of the outrageous rents that people have to pay along with the other cost of doing business in Swellesley.
