Wellesley Police, assisted by Boston, MassBay Community College and Transit Police, Thursday AM arrested a MassBay student who was packing a semi-automatic gun in his backpack at the school’s registrar’s office.
The police were working a tip provided by a citizen last week about the student possessing a gun at the school.
Darryl Max Dookhran, 18, of Dorchester violently resisted arrest, according to the police, after they identified themselves and asked him about having a gun, which turned out to be a TEC-9, as seen here. It was loaded with an 18 round magazine and had a round in the chamber, making it ready to be fired, according to police.
Dookhran was arrested and charged with 8 crimes, including Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm and Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds. He was being held at Wellesley Police Department pending arraignment in court in Dedham.
The Globe reports that Dookhran’s attorney said his client had no idea the gun was in his backpack.
