Members of the Wellesley High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will compete vs. WHS faculty and staff in a charity basketball game this Friday April 29th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Larsson Gymnasium at Wellesley High. All proceeds from the event will benefit ALS research (Compassionate Care ALS and the ALS Association) in honor of Paul Seaver, the boys’ JV basketball coach, who was recently diagnosed with ALS. More commonly known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”, ALS has no known cure.
Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door. The event will include a raffle for prizes (including Celtics gear signed by Ray Allen) and other items to support the cause, including ALS bracelets. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase.
Those rooting for the students are asked to wear read, and those rooting for staff/coaches are asked to wear white.
Separately, the Milford High School volleyball team is having a fundraiser in Milford the same day for ALS research in the name of Seaver, a major player in Milford youth sports.
